Taifa Stars midfielder Mudathir Yahya continues to shine in the ongoing CHAN 2024 tournament in Dar es Salaam, having led the national team to a 1-0 win over Mauritania yesterday at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
Mudathir was named Man of the Match in the thrilling 90-minute encounter, which saw Stars clinch victory in the dying minutes through a goal from Shomari Kapombe.
The midfielder, who plays for Tanzanian champions Yanga SC, has been a key pillar in the Stars’ midfield, combining well with teammates Feisal Salum 'Fei Toto' and Yusuph Kagoma. However, Kagoma played only 45 minutes after receiving an early yellow card and was substituted to avoid the risk of a second booking.
Mudathir has maintained his top form since Stars’ opening match against Burkina Faso, further solidifying his influence in the team.
Stars currently top Group B with 6 points following their victory over Mauritania, putting them in a strong position to advance to the knockout stage.
