Yanga’s new attacking midfielder, Lassine Kouma, has revealed that it was his dream to one day play for Yanga SC, and being signed by the reigning Tanzanian champions is the fulfillment of that dream.
Yanga announced the signing of Kouma, also known as “Co-Magic,” from Malian side Stade Malien.
Kouma said he became aware of Yanga when goalkeeper Djigui Diarra joined the club. He also had the chance to watch them live when Yanga played against Real Bamako in Mali two seasons ago — an experience that further fueled his desire to join the club.
“I’ve followed Yanga since Djigui Diarra arrived there, and I also watched them play in Mali against Real Bamako,” Kouma said.
“I saw how happy Djigui was and how well-organized the team was. From that day, I had a deep desire to join Yanga. I felt like a fan since I first got to know them.”
Kouma stated that when he received the news that Yanga was interested in signing him, he welcomed the opportunity with immense joy.
The talented midfielder also shared that Diarra has told him a lot about the club, including how big and respected it is.
“Djigui told me Yanga is a great team and a very big club. He shared many things, but above all, he emphasized that I was joining a massive institution.”
Kouma has a rich history with Stade Malien, having joined the club's academy at age 10. He rose through all the youth ranks and was promoted to the senior team during the 2022/23 season.
He revealed that during his time at Stade Malien, he was a fan favorite — both among club officials and supporters.
Now at Yanga, Kouma has asked fans to welcome him as one of their own, promising to give his all and make them proud — possibly even more than he did in Mali.
“I would like to ask and plead with Yanga fans, officials, the technical bench, and everyone at the club to accept me as their own child here in Tanzania,” he said.
“I’ll do my very best, give my all, and work hard to fulfill the opportunity I’ve been given.”
