Yanga SC is expected to announce Paul Matthews as the new Technical Director, replacing Abdihamid Moallin, who was reassigned to the role of Assistant Coach.
Matthews previously served as the Technical Director at SuperSport United but resigned after the club was sold and rebranded as Siwelele FC.
He played a key role in the recruitment of players for the club and was credited with bringing in talents like Teboho Mokoena from Harmony Academy and Sipho Mbule.
Ime Okon was among the young talents discovered by Matthews, who held multiple responsibilities at Matsatsantsa including talent identification, recruitment, and performance analysis.
Respected in South African football, Matthews holds a UEFA B license and has worked with clubs such as AmaTuks, Jomo Cosmos, and Tembisa Classic.
While at Tuks, he contributed to the recruitment of players like Andile Jali, Bongani Khumalo, Grant Kekana, Bongani Zungu, and Buhle Mkhwanazi, serving as assistant coach and head of recruitment for seven years.
Matthews now joins Yanga’s technical bench alongside head coach Romain Folz, stepping into the role of Technical Director.
Sources have confirmed that he is expected to arrive in Tanzania today, Friday, to begin a new chapter with the Tanzanian giants, who ended last season in dominant fashion by winning five trophies.
