Malian goalkeeper Djigui Diarra has brought honor to Yanga during the four seasons he has served the club. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for defender Mamadou Doumbia, who failed to impress.
According to transfer sources, the Citizens (Wananchi) have returned to Mali, this time in pursuit of an attacking midfielder.
Yanga SC are reportedly seeking to sign skilled midfielder Lassine Kouma (21), who currently plays for Stade Malien.
Kouma, who is adept at playing as a number 10 attacking midfielder, could join Yanga after the Tanzanian champions made significant progress in negotiations with Stade Malien—the same club from which they signed Diarra.
However, Yanga are not the only club interested. Sudan’s Al Hilal and Tanzania’s Simba SC are also in the race to sign the talented midfielder.
Kouma has already informed Stade Malien’s management that he is seeking a new challenge.
In one of his interviews, Yanga’s Media and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, mentioned that there is still one signing the club is working hard to finalize.
The attacking midfield position has kept Yanga active in the market as they look for a player to fill the gap left by Stephane Aziz Ki.
Feisal Salum from Azam FC has been linked with a move to Yanga, but it appears Azam FC are unwilling to let him go. They are working to extend his contract, as he is among the players required by their new coach, Florent Ibenge.
Several names have been linked to Yanga for that midfield role, but if they succeed in signing Kouma, it will likely mark the completion of their foreign player recruitment.
