As Yanga prepares to unveil its new head coach, who will replace Miloud Hamdi after his move to Egypt’s Ismailia, reports indicate that the coach has already submitted proposals for the team’s pre-season training camp.
Frenchman Romain Folz is widely expected to take charge, with Yanga’s Media and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, hinting that the coach has already been in the country for several weeks.
According to reports, Folz has recommended that Yanga conduct its pre-season camp in Egypt, citing the need for a calm environment and proper training facilities to support his preparations.
This suggestion could disrupt the club’s earlier plans, including scrapping their participation in a special pre-season tournament in Namibia.
However, Yanga will first travel to Rwanda to take part in a special match during Rayon Sports Day on August 15.
"We’ve changed plans as we now have a coach who has presented his own proposals. Namibia and South Africa are no longer options, as the coach has instructed us to find a location inside Egypt," a Yanga official told Mwanaspoti.
"He gave us reasons we understood, and preparations are underway. Once the team travels to Rwanda for the Rayon match, it will likely proceed directly to Egypt. The coach wants all his players available for the trip, except those involved in CHAN, whose participation will depend on their progress in the tournament."
Ali Kamwe further stated that this week and next, Yanga will complete the unveiling of the squad, coaching staff, and technical bench, while players are expected to report back to camp ahead of the new season’s preparations starting in early August 2025.
