Yanga's Media and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, has announced that the club has granted its players Kibwana Shomari and Denis Nkane permission to participate in the ‘Dar Boxing Derby’ scheduled to take place on July 26 in Dar es Salaam.
Kamwe stated that the club came up with the idea after observing what these players have been doing during their training camps. When they approached the players, they readily agreed to take part in the match.
"After getting the idea, we spoke with our players and they agreed to participate in the match because they want to showcase talents that many Tanzanians are unaware of,"
"I believe this match will add value to the other fights happening that day, thanks to the quality of these players. We also expect a large turnout of fans," said Kamwe.
Speaking during the introduction of the two players at Azam TV offices yesterday, the match organizer, Major Selemani Semunyu, expressed his gratitude to Yanga SC for allowing the players to step into the ring.
"I thank Yanga's management for granting their players permission to compete that day. We ask their fans to show up in large numbers to witness this unique entertainment," said Semunyu.
Building excitement ahead of the match, Kibwana said his punch, called ‘katafumua’ (the demolisher), will make his opponent Denis Nkane unable to continue the fight.
"On my side, I’ve prepared well through my ongoing specialized training to ensure I entertain my fans from Morogoro," said Kibwana.
He added that he has no worries facing Nkane as he knows him well and expects to finish the fight within five minutes of the first round.
Meanwhile, Denis Nkane said Kibwana will not trouble him, as he’s confident of delivering a beating like no other.
"I’m coming with my ‘rock punch’ which will make Kibwana unable to even look at me, as my training will help me secure good results," said Nkane.
Yanga is a sports club that engages in various sports, including boxing and other disciplines.
