Yanga SC Targets Strong Squad Ahead of CAF Champions League

Two days ago, after participating in a charity match in Kigamboni, Yanga President Engineer Hersi Said made a few remarks to reporters eagerly awaiting updates on Yanga's plans for the upcoming season.

Hersi discussed Yanga's strategies for their CAF Champions League campaign next season and briefly touched on the club's ongoing recruitment efforts.

The statement that sparked smiles among Yanga fans and members was when he said that in this transfer window, Yanga is conducting its best-ever recruitment.

This suggests that the players signed so far possess high standards and are expected to strengthen Yanga's squad next season, especially in the CAF Champions League.

His words reflect the transfer rumors surrounding Yanga, some of which have already materialized into confirmed signings.

In this window, Yanga and Simba SC have fiercely battled in transfer deals. Some players signed by Yanga were initially in talks with Simba before Yanga stepped in and secured their signatures.

One such player is attacking midfielder John Bosco Nchindo from Cameroon’s Cotton Sport, who is reportedly on Yanga's radar. Reports indicate that Yanga has already assessed his current contract situation with Cotton Sport.

Nchindo, who was named MVP of the Cameroonian Premier League last season, was first linked with Simba.

During the 2023/24 season, he played for Young Sports Academy in Cameroon, scoring 13 goals and providing 4 assists before moving to Cotton Sport last season, where he scored 7 goals and made 2 assists in 16 matches.

At 23 years old, he is considered a talented player with the potential for further development.

Meanwhile, Yanga is still seeking another attacking midfielder to fill the gap left by Stephane Aziz Ki and Clatous Chama.

Although inside sources reveal that Yanga has a personal agreement with Feisal Salum to bring him back to Jangwani, his current club Azam FC is reluctant to release him easily, demanding at least TZS 1.3 billion.

Fei Toto still has one year left on his contract with Azam FC, and Yanga is unwilling to meet that valuation. Negotiations are ongoing after Yanga submitted an official offer to the Chamazi-based club.

If the plan to re-sign Fei Toto falls through, Cameroonian midfielder John Bosco Nchindo could potentially be the alternative choice.
