Yanga SC is reported to have completed the signing of defensive midfielder Moussa Balla Conte from CS Sfaxien of Tunisia on a two-year contract. The player hails from Burkina Faso.
According to sources within the club's management, Yanga finalized the deal on Friday night after successfully paying the transfer fee to CS Sfaxien.
Yanga entered the race to sign the midfielder just a few days ago, with the club’s Media and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, hinting at a ‘mafia-style’ move that hijacked the transfer from rivals Simba SC, who were in the final stages of signing the player.
However, it is reported that the transfer wasn’t easy for Yanga, as Simba returned with an improved offer. But GSM, Yanga’s sponsors, sealed the deal by paying the full amount upfront, while Simba had proposed to pay in two installments.
The player is said to have been approved by Yanga's new head coach after evaluating the squad.
Conte is expected to fill the void left by Clatous Chama, whose contract has come to an end.
