Yanga SC is expected to kick off its pre-season preparations in Rwanda, it has been confirmed.
The club's Media and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, stated that by the last week of this month, all players are required to have returned to Dar es Salaam. Before departing the country, the team will undergo medical examinations.
Yanga has been invited to Rwanda to participate in the "Rayon Day" festival, where they are expected to face Rayon Sports in a match scheduled for August—exact date to be announced later.
Additionally, there is a possibility that Yanga could conclude its pre-season in Namibia, where they have also received an invitation to take part in a special pre-season tournament.
The tournament will be hosted by African Stars, and alongside Yanga, the other invited clubs include Petro de Luanda and Lioli.
During the pre-season, Yanga is guaranteed to play at least four high-profile international matches before returning to Tanzania to finalize preparations for the "Wiki ya Mwananchi" (Citizen’s Week).
However, Kamwe noted that it might be difficult to secure a big team to participate in the climax of Wiki ya Mwananchi due to the fact that most leagues will have already begun by September.
The CHAN tournament, taking place in Tanzania from August 2 to August 30, has led to the rescheduling of the Wiki ya Mwananchi festivities to September.
Kamwe also emphasized that Yanga has officially written to Simba SC requesting to face them in the final match of Wiki ya Mwananchi and also confirmed Yanga’s readiness to play Simba during their "Simba Day" celebrations as well.
