Zambian midfielder Clatous Chama may not be part of Yanga SC’s squad next season after contract extension talks reportedly failed to reach an agreement.
Chama, who joined Yanga last season on a one-year deal, is now a free agent after his contract expired.
Yanga opened negotiations to extend his stay, but both parties were unable to agree on financial terms.
During his single season with the Tanzanian giants, Chama scored six league goals and provided three assists.
However, he struggled to cement a regular spot in the starting lineup due to strong competition in midfield.
Stephane Aziz Ki was preferred ahead of him, and even after the Burkinabè moved to Wydad Casablanca, Duke Abuya stepped into the role, leaving Chama to continue as a substitute in the final matches of the season.
This transfer window, Yanga has further intensified competition in midfield by signing talented playmaker Mohammed Doumbia. The club is also expected to extend Duke Abuya’s contract, while Khalid Aucho has been offered a new one-year deal.
