Talented Ivorian midfielder Mohammed Doumbia has expressed his happiness after completing a move to Tanzania’s historic football giants, Yanga SC.
The 26-year-old is regarded as one of the club’s earliest signings in the current transfer window.
Doumbia arrived in Tanzania in early June and participated in training sessions with the Yanga squad at Avic Town, signaling the club’s intention to include him in their plans for the new season.
Though he has yet to make his official debut, Doumbia joined Yanga president Engineer Hersi Said and other players who were not part of the squad during the Premier League match against Dodoma Jiji, played in Zanzibar.
Speaking to a media outlet in his home country, Ivory Coast, Doumbia said:
"I’m proud to join a big club like Yanga. My goal is to win trophies and make history in Tanzania."
Doumbia is a versatile midfielder capable of playing in all central roles—positions 6, 8, and 10. He is known for his precise passing, speed, strength, and exceptional skill on the ball. He joins Yanga as a free agent after his contract with FC Majestic of Burkina Faso expired. Previously, he also played for Slovan Liberec in the Czech Republic.
His signing appears to be part of Yanga’s broader strategy to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season, particularly by adding creativity and attacking power in midfield.
