Yanga SC’s Ivorian right-back Yao Kouassi has extended his contract with the Tanzanian football giants for another year, it has been revealed.
Despite signing the extension, Yao will remain sidelined as he continues to recover from a knee injury following surgery he underwent in May in Morocco.
The initial medical report indicated that Yao would be out of action for approximately six months. However, just two months later, Yanga has received renewed hope that he may return to the field sooner than expected.
Last week, Yao was in Tanzania celebrating Yanga’s championship triumphs alongside his teammates.
With Yao on the mend, it is now clear that Yanga has dropped plans to sign another right-back. Israel Mwenda has successfully filled in during Yao’s absence, with support from Kibwana Shomari.
