Yanga SC's Media and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, has revealed that ahead of preparations for the 2025/26 season, Yanga might face a team from the English Premier League.
Speaking about the upcoming pre-season plans, Kamwe said that Yanga has received invitations from two countries to participate in special pre-season tournaments, similar to last season when they were invited to South Africa and had the opportunity to play against Bundesliga side Augsburg.
Kamwe disclosed that in one of those invitations, they may have the chance to play against an English Premier League team.
"Unfortunately, this year Kaizer Chiefs have not invited us to the Toyota Cup, but according to the information Iβve received from the CEO, the club has received invitations to participate in pre-season in two different countries, and the club is also planning to conduct pre-season in two different countries,"
"These invitations involve pre-season tournaments in which the club will participate, and in one of the tournaments, thereβs a Premier League team taking part. So, if weβre fortunate enough to go, we will play another big match,"
"Last year we played against Augsburg, and this year we might face another major team from the English Premier League," Kamwe stated.
Speaking on the pre-season schedule, Kamwe said players are expected to return to Tanzania at the end of July to begin pre-season training, which will commence in early August.
This season, the league is expected to start later than usual due to the CHAN tournament, which will be held in the country in August.
