Yanga SC is reported to have finalized the signing of attacking midfielder Celestin Ecua (23) from Zoman FC, who played last season on loan at ASEC Mimosas.
At last, the dream of Yanga fans to see the young star don the iconic green and yellow jersey is close to becoming a reality, with only the official unveiling pending.
Ecua's name has frequently surfaced during the transfer window, but Yanga have shown true intent and successfully secured the deal ahead of other Tanzanian football giants who were also interested in the player.
During his final season at ASEC Mimosas, Ecua impressed by scoring 15 goals and providing 12 assists across all competitions—statistics that highlight not only his finishing ability but also his creativity in setting up goals.
What makes him an even more valuable asset for Yanga is his versatility. Ecua is predominantly left-footed, fast, creative, and capable of playing both flanks as a winger or in the central attacking midfielder (number 10) role. This type of player gives coaches tactical flexibility depending on the opponents.
It is reported that Ecua could take the place of Congolese player Jonathan Ikangalombo, who joined Yanga from AS Vita during the last mid-season transfer window but failed to impress the club's leadership.
