The President of Yanga SC, Engineer Hersi Said, has reassured the club's members and fans by promising major improvements ahead of the 2025/26 CAF Champions League season.
Speaking after a successful domestic season for Yanga, Hersi admitted that although the club secured all local titles, it underperformed in international competitions during the recently concluded season. Yanga failed to progress past the group stage in the CAF Champions League, an outcome he said provided valuable lessons.
"We’ve had a great season, we won five trophies, but we slipped in the Champions League," Hersi stated.
He added that the club has already begun restructuring to ensure past mistakes are not repeated, with the main goals being strong performances in both domestic and international competitions.
"We are going to prepare thoroughly to ensure we perform well next season in both domestic and international tournaments," the club president emphasized.
Hersi’s statement comes just a day after Yanga ended the 2024/25 season with a bang, organizing a grand parade to celebrate their achievements, which brought activities in Dar es Salaam to a standstill for nearly six hours.
During this successful season, Yanga clinched five trophies: the Toyota Cup, the Community Shield, the Muungano Cup, the Tanzanian Premier League, and the CRDB Bank Cup—historic achievements that highlighted the team’s domestic dominance.
Yanga fans now have every reason to be hopeful, with attention turning to player signings, preseason preparations, and ultimately the journey toward winning the CAF Champions League title.
