Yanga Shifts Focus to FA Cup Final After Historic League Triumph

After successfully defending the NBC Premier League title for the fourth consecutive season by defeating archrivals Simba 2-0 in rescheduled match number 184 played on Wednesday at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Yanga has no time to waste.

Tomorrow, Friday, the squad is expected to travel to Zanzibar in preparation for the CRDB Cup final, which will be played on Sunday, June 29, at the New Amaan Complex Stadium.

Speaking at a press conference earlier today, Yanga’s Media and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, said the team is heading to Zanzibar with only one goal — to defend the FA Cup title for the fourth time.

Special Thanksgiving Prayer to Be Held at Jangwani

In another update, Kamwe announced that a special thanksgiving prayer will be held tomorrow, Friday, at the club’s headquarters in Jangwani following their league title success.

He stated that the prayer is meant to thank God and pray for victory in Sunday’s final against Singida Black Stars.

Kamwe hinted that there will also be a traditional soup-drinking event as part of the celebrations, boasting that “this time, we’re slaughtering a camel!”

"This season we’ve been through a lot as a club. But our secret to success, despite the heavy waves, has been unity and solidarity. The leaders we trusted during tough times came through for us. Thanks to all branch leaders, fans, and members — we are truly grateful."

"Special thanks to our players who gave their all, and the technical bench for their unique commitment. We also congratulate all 14 of our opponents for providing solid competition."

"And most importantly, let’s not forget to thank our rivals for their inconsistency, confusion, and propaganda — all of which pushed us to be more focused. This has been a season of great joy."

"You’ll recall during the match at KMC Stadium, their spokesperson claimed they control Yanga’s fixtures. That statement really woke us up — let me tell the citizens the truth, that statement marked their downfall. Winning the title is wonderful, but seeing your rival end the season empty-handed is even sweeter."

"Our championship celebrations will begin with a prayer to thank God. If you can’t be grateful for the small things, you won’t appreciate the big ones. So, tomorrow, June 27, at our club headquarters, we’ll start with a thanksgiving prayer and then make history by drinking camel soup," said Kamwe.
