The NBC Premier League action continues today with eight round 30 matches taking place at various venues.
Defending champions Yanga will be in Zanzibar to complete their 30th round fixture against Dodoma Jiji, set to be played at the New Amaan Complex Stadium.
This is a crucial match for Yanga to win in order to strengthen their chances of securing a fourth consecutive league title.
Mathematically, Yanga needs at least four points from the two remaining matches to clinch the championship.
However, the "Wananchi" (Yanga) could be crowned champions today if they win and their arch-rivals Simba fail to secure a victory against Kagera Sugar — although that scenario is unlikely, as Kagera Sugar has already been relegated and the match holds no pressure for them.
In a press conference yesterday, Yanga Head Coach Miloud Hamdi emphasized the importance of making full use of the 90 minutes in today’s match to secure a win.
"At this point, we’re not thinking about the title, but if we win against Dodoma Jiji, then we can begin to think of ourselves as champions because we’ll only have one game left," said Hamdi.
Yanga arrived in Zanzibar early yesterday, and in the evening, the team held its final training session at the Amaan practice grounds.
