Acting Director of the Sports Development Department, Ali Mayay, is among the candidates who have stepped forward to contest the presidency of the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF).
Today marks the final day for candidates who collected nomination forms to return them. Mayay is among those who submitted their forms, despite facing challenges in securing endorsements.
It is reported that the incumbent president, Wallace Karia, has secured all the available endorsements, leaving no opportunity for other candidates. According to the election regulations, candidates who return nomination forms without any endorsements will be disqualified for failing to meet one of the key requirements.
Mayay stated that, despite not having endorsements, he submitted the form in order to complete the first phase of the election process.
Reports indicate that candidates who failed to obtain endorsements plan to file complaints with the TFF Appeals Committee, challenging the practice that allowed a single candidate to acquire all endorsements.
There is a regulation that stipulates a candidate will be deemed unqualified if they fail to obtain at least five endorsements from delegates through official letters.
It is reported that all 47 delegates have endorsed the incumbent, Karia.
