In the second-leg match, where Yanga secured a 1-0 victory in Mauritania after losing 2-0 in the first leg at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, defender Kibwana Shomari had to work extra hard to contain the winger, who was gliding like a fish in water.
It is now reported that Yanga is targeting Girumugisha, who was born on September 18, 2004, to add him to their squad ahead of next season.
Al Hilal is open to selling the winger but is demanding a transfer fee not less than 3 billion Tanzanian shillings. Yanga has not yet submitted an official offer to initiate negotiations for the speedy winger.
Yanga has already completed the sale of attacking midfielder Stephane Aziz Ki to Wydad Athletic, and there are reports that striker Clement Mzize is on the verge of joining Zamalek of Egypt.
It’s clear that Yanga will need to fill the void left by these players, and the profile of new signings must be such that they can slot directly into the starting lineup.
Girumugisha joined Sudan's Al Hilal on September 28, 2023, from Magara Young Boys of Burundi, and has impressed with his performance, scoring 12 goals and providing 11 assists this season.
He also helped the team, under coach Florent Ibenge, to win the Mauritania Ligue 1 championship this season after playing 30 matches, winning 20, drawing seven, and losing three, topping the table with 67 points.
