Yanga SC Head Coach Miloud Hamdi has stated that his team is fully prepared for the final stretch of the season, expressing satisfaction with the confirmation of the much-anticipated Kariakoo Derby against Simba, following earlier schedule uncertainties.
Hamdi made the remarks ahead of the Wednesday, June 18 match against Tanzania Prisons, which will be held at Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya. This will be the first of Yanga’s last four matches this season, part of their campaign to defend the Premier League title and also win the CRDB Cup.
“We respect every team. Previously, we didn’t have a confirmed date for the match against Simba, but now everything is clear. We are ready for that match and will aim to win it just as we have with the others,” said Hamdi.
Yanga still has three Premier League matches remaining:
Tanzania Prisons – June 18, Sokoine Stadium
Dodoma Jiji – June 22, New Amaan Complex Stadium, Zanzibar
Simba SC – June 25, Benjamin Mkapa Stadium
After the league, Yanga will end the season by playing in the CRDB Cup final against Singida Black Stars on June 28.
Hamdi noted that the confirmed derby match has boosted morale in camp, while emphasizing the quality of his squad, which has managed to defeat every team in the league at least once this season—a feat he described as a testament to their strength.
“You know, Yanga is the only team that has beaten every opponent this season at least once. When you see a record like that, it clearly shows the quality we have. We want to win all the remaining matches,” Hamdi added confidently.
Yanga fans now have every reason to look forward to a successful season if the team maintains its winning momentum through to the end. The June 25 derby is not only a chance to protect their honor but could also mark the climax of being crowned champions for the 31st time.
