The financial dispute between Yanga SC and the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has escalated as Yanga formally submitted a detailed claim letter accompanied by five invoices at TFF’s offices today.
Led by CEO Andre Mtine and the Finance Director, the club emphasized transparency and adherence to legal frameworks, outlining three main claims:
- 1. Federation Cup winnings: Invoices for prize money from the past three consecutive CRDB Federation Cup titles (since 2021/22).
- 2. CAF gate revenue: Yanga claims TFF withheld their share of ticket sales from international CAF matches.
- 3. Sponsorship for women and youth teams: The club is demanding unpaid funds related to sponsorship deals in these categories.
Yanga presented TFF with two options to resolve the matter:
- Option 1: TFF pays the full amount owed (estimated at TZS 426 million), after which Yanga will honor any verified debts to TFF.
- Option 2: If TFF has already deducted money from Yanga's dues, they must present official receipts and deposit any remaining balance directly into the club’s account.
The club also made it clear that no informal negotiations will be accepted. Any discussions must occur in the presence of formal authorities such as the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) and legal institutions, ensuring full legal and financial accountability from TFF.
