Today, Monday, June 9, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., Yanga officials have been summoned to attend a meeting convened by the league board (TPLB) to discuss the fate of match number 184 of the NBC Premier League between Yanga and Simba, scheduled for June 15, 2025.
The league board has requested a meeting with all Yanga officials, including the President, Vice President, and all members of the Executive Committee.
Yanga had already announced their decision not to participate in the match until their demands for an explanation as to why the March 8 fixture was not played are addressed.
Additionally, Yanga expressed a lack of confidence in the board’s leadership, calling for the resignation of the board's CEO Almas Kasongo and Chairman Steven Mguto.
So far, no action has been taken—no explanation has been given for the postponement of the March 8 match, and no board official has resigned.
The stance of Yanga members, as stated recently by branch leaders and club elders, is that their leaders should not be involved in the upcoming match at all.
Members have warned that any official who attempts to take the team to the pitch without their demands being addressed will have effectively removed themselves from their position.
Currently, Yanga President Engineer Hersi Said is in the United States attending a course at Harvard University's Business School, and therefore will clearly not attend the meeting.
Yanga Vice President Arafat Haji is the one who could lead the club’s officials should they decide to attend the meeting.
