Three Yanga players who were part of the Tanzania national team squad, 'Taifa Stars', have been allowed to return home to rejoin their club for preparations ahead of the season-ending matches.
Yesterday, Taifa Stars faced South Africa in a friendly match that ended in a goalless draw. Dickson Job and Ibrahim Bacca featured in the starting lineup, while Shekhan Khamis was among the substitutes.
A statement has revealed that the players have been released early to focus on preparations for NBC Premier League match number 184 between Yanga and Simba, scheduled to take place on June 15 at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
However, Yanga’s stance remains firm—they will not play that match if the league board does not respond to the complaints they submitted on March 9.
The board has also been urged to publicly disclose the findings of the investigation they conducted to determine the reasons behind the postponement of the match, which was initially set for March 8.
Currently, the Yanga squad is preparing for its final two league matches against Tanzania Prisons and Dodoma Jiji, as well as the CRDB Cup final against Singida BS, which is scheduled for June 28 in Zanzibar.
