Yanga SC has begun efforts to strengthen its squad ahead of the upcoming season, focusing on key areas that require significant improvement. One of those areas is the defensive midfield position, which is currently heavily reliant on Ugandan international Khalid Aucho.
The midfielder from Uganda has been a cornerstone of Yanga's midfield for several seasons, but his advancing age and recurring injury concerns have created the need for a long-term replacement.
As part of this strategy, Yanga has expressed interest in Singida Black Stars midfielder Mohammed Damaro Camara (22), who recently switched his nationality to Tanzanian a few months ago.
Damaro has been a key figure for Singida BS, forming a strong partnership in midfield with the talented Josephat Arthur Bada, who is also reportedly on the radar of the Tanzanian Premier League giants.
Damaro's ability to tackle, win possession, and distribute accurate passes has convinced Yanga of his potential to become a long-term successor to Aucho.
To facilitate Damaro's signing, Yanga is reportedly willing to offer Congolese winger Jonathan Ikangalombo on loan as part of the transfer deal.
Ikangalombo, who joined Yanga during the mid-season transfer window, has failed to meet expectations and is now among the players likely to be loaned out in order to gain more playing time.
If the deal goes through, Damaro Camara will bring increased competition to Yanga’s midfield, which already features players such as Mudathir Yahya, Duke Abuya, Salum Abubakar, and Khalid Aucho (should he renew his contract).
