Yanga SC has officially received an invitation from Rayon Sports, a club based in Rwanda, to play an international friendly match.
This special match is scheduled to be played on June 15, 2025, in the city of Kigali, Rwanda, and aims to strengthen the collaborative relationship between the two major clubs from East Africa.
According to information from within Yanga SC, the match presents an opportunity to enhance football relations between Tanzania and Rwanda through these well-known clubs.
However, the date June 15 has sparked debate among football stakeholders, as it is the same day the Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) announced that Premier League match number 184, between Yanga and Simba SC, would be played. This match was originally scheduled for March 8 but did not take place after Simba failed to show up.
Yanga announced their position not to participate in that match, strongly opposing how TPLB handled the matter, including postponing the game in violation of the rules and failing to provide detailed reasons for the postponement.
Although TPLB promised an investigation into the incident, no official report of that investigation has been released to date.
