Yanga U20 assistant coach Ali Kamwe has admitted that they lost their opening group stage match of the U20 Youth League yesterday after being tactically outclassed by their opponents.
Despite playing with a man down for over 60 minutes, Tanzania Prisons U20 emerged with a 2-1 victory over Yanga U20 in a match held at the Azam Complex Stadium.
Speaking after the match, Kamwe acknowledged that Prisons were the better side and that his team has work to do to ensure they win the remaining two group matches.
"I must admit our opponents were better, even though they played with a numerical disadvantage for a long time. We lacked focus, especially when attacking — our players pushed forward without taking necessary precautions," said Kamwe.
"As a result, we left gaps that our opponents exploited with quick counter-attacks to punish us."
"We are going to work on the weaknesses we identified to ensure we win the remaining two matches and keep our hopes of reaching the quarterfinals alive," he added.
Tomorrow, Thursday, Yanga U20 will play their second group match against Fountain Gate, before concluding the group stage against Kagera Sugar on May 24.
