A convoy of Yanga fans and members is departing from the club’s headquarters in Jangwani heading to Tanga for the CRDB Cup semifinal match against JKT Tanzania, which will be played tomorrow, Sunday, at the Mkwakwani Stadium.
Stickers reading "HATUCHEZI N'GO" (Swahili slang meaning “WE’RE NOT PLAYING, PERIOD”) are prominently displayed on more than 30 buses making their way to Tanga.
Yanga has chosen to use this approach to send a clear message to the authorities that they are not ready to play match number 184 against Simba, which has been rescheduled for June 15.
Yanga maintains that the match was supposed to be played on March 8, but their rivals Simba deliberately avoided it for their own reasons.
According to Yanga, the league board was supposed to uphold the rules, but instead, they “favored” Simba and postponed the match without valid reasons.
Now the board has set a new date for the match without explaining to the public why the original fixture on March 8 did not take place.
