The Zanzibar Football Federation (ZFF) has moved the venue for the Union Cup tournament and it will now be played at Gombani Stadium, Pemba.
Initially, the federation announced that the tournament would start on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at the New Amaan Complex Stadium in Unguja before issuing a statement to move it to Pemba.
The stadium is among the stadiums expected to be used for the CHAN tournament
In a statement issued yesterday, April 21, 2025, by the Acting ZFF Information Officer, Issa Chiwilem, it said that the ZFF has received an email from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on technical instructions for the use of the stadium.
"The New Amaan Complex Stadium has currently entered a special use system, the CAF statement has stated that the stadium is not recommended for competitions with multiple consecutive matches," the statement said that.
So in implementing the order, the statement said this year's Union tournament will be played in Gombani on Pemba Island
Tanzania Mainland soccer champions Yanga have confirmed their participation in this year's tournament, where they will play a quarter-final match against KVZ on April 25
