Young Africans SC assistant captain Dickson Job has confirmed that the team is fully prepared for their upcoming NBC Premier League showdown against Azam FC, scheduled for Thursday, April 10, at Azam Complex Stadium, with kick-off set for 7:00 PM (EAT).
Speaking during a pre-match press conference, Job said the players are in high spirits and are determined to secure a crucial win as they continue their pursuit of a fourth consecutive Premier League title.
"All players are fit and ready. We’ve prepared well, and we know how important this match is. Our goal is simple—win," Job stated confidently.
Yanga currently sits at the top of the table with 64 points and is firmly in the title race with five matches remaining in the season. A victory against Azam FC would be a significant step toward achieving their championship goal. However, Job acknowledged that the team is still haunted by their first-round loss to Azam, where they suffered a 1-0 defeat.
"We know we made mistakes in that first-round match. Azam punished us for them, but this time we’ve worked hard to make sure we don’t repeat those errors," he added.
In the current standings, archrivals Simba SC are in second place with 57 points and two games in hand. Azam FC, meanwhile, sit third with 51 points and are still in the hunt for a top-three finish, which would secure them a spot in next season’s CAF interclub competitions.
Despite the pressure from Simba and Azam, Job stressed that Yanga is focused solely on their own preparations and performance.
“We’re not looking behind us—we’re focused on where we’re going. Every game is a final for us now, and we believe in the strength of our squad to get the job done.”
Thursday’s match is expected to be a thrilling affair, pitting two Dar es Salaam giants against each other in a battle that carries title implications and pride.
