Yesterday GSM Foundation in collaboration with CCBRT Hospital and Yanga club held the Mwezeshe Walk Harambee to raise funds to treat 400 children with Clubfoot at CCBRT Hospital
CCM Secretary General, Ambassador Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi was accompanied by the Grand Mufti of Bakwata, Dr. Abubakar Bin Zubeir joined Ghalib Said Mohamed whose Foundation organized the grand event.
More than Tsh 1B was raised, exceeding the target of raising Tsh 600M, which was needed for the treatment of the children.
Yanga President Injinia Hersi Said said the funds will go to serve children with Clubfoot, where approximately 2,000 children are born every year in Tanzania with the problem.
"If these children receive treatment, they will avoid permanent disability and if they do not receive treatment, it is the opposite, permanent disability. Our hero Dr. Brenda Msangi, CEO of Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation Tanzania (CCBRT) will pilot this MWEZESHA ATEMBEE boat," said Hersi.
In the Harambee, GSM donated Tsh 100 Million while a picture of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, was sold for Tsh Million 104
The picture was purchased by the Ministry of Health, NMB Bank, CRDB Bank and CCM Secretary Dr. Emanuel Nchimbi
But also the Yanga jersey was sold for 35 million Tsh with players Stephane Aziz Ki, Dickson Job and Kibwana Shomari among those who contributed to the Harambee, each contributing 7 million tsh
