If you look at the CAF rankings for this season 2024/25, Yanga is in 13th place with 31 points while their countrymen Simba are in 7th place with 39 points
If that position is taken for the next season i.e. 2025/26 regardless of the results of this season, Yanga will remain with 24 points and move to 12th place while their countrymen Simba will remain with 28 points and move to 6th place
If Yanga does not qualify for the CAF CL group stage, they will lose 7 points while if Simba fail to qualify for the CAF CC group stage, they will lose 11 points
But if Yanga closes the CBE and qualify for the CAF CL group stage, they will increase 5 points and reach 29 points while their countrymen Simba qualify for the CAF CC group stage, they will increase 2.5 points and reach 30.5 points
That is, until Monday, the difference in points in the CAF rankings between Yanga and Simba may be only 1.5 if all teams qualify for the group stage
If it happens that Yanga qualify for the groups and then their compatriots Simba fail to qualify, it will be official that Yanga has 'cut the bush' in the CAF rankings!
Whatever happens this season, Yanga has the best chance to stay above Simba in the CAF rankings, what is needed is at least to reach the quarter finals like last season
If Yanga reaches the quarter-finals of CAF CL, Simba will need to reach the semi-finals of CAF CC to get the same points as Yanga
If the Nationals make it to the semi-finals then Simba will need to become CAF CC champions to get the same score as Yanga
