Yanga Head Coach Miguel Gamondi has congratulated his players after winning the Community Shield following a 4-1 victory against Azam Fc in the final game played at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium yesterday
Yanga happened later in the game when Azam Fc scored an early goal in the 13th minute through Feisal Salum whose kind of cheering is like it woke up the 'water' of the people
It took Yanga only five minutes to regain the goal through Prince Dube before Boka led to the second which Azam scored and then Aziz Ki and Clement Mzize added two more goals
Speaking after the game, Gamondi said his boys showed a high level of maturity
"I congratulate my players, they have shown an excellent level because despite conceding a goal early, they did not leave the game and finally equalized and scored three more goals"
"I have often told my players that we should play like we train, today we did that, we were good and we deserved to win this Community Shield"
"We have had a good preparation for the season since we camped in South Africa, it is a good start for us to beat our rivals Simba and Azam Fc in this championship," said Gamondi
The next stop for Yanga is the Champions League preliminary stage match against Vital'o where the first leg match will be played on Saturday August 17th at Azam Complex
