The government has proposed to give tax exemption on the import of video system machines to help referees make the right decision on the field (VAR)
Minister of Finance, Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba, said this in Parliament yesterday when he presented the Government's Budget proposals for the year 2024/25, stressing that VAR will eliminate the complaints of teams being favored by referees
"Next season of the Premier League of Tanzania Mainland we will start using "VAR" to ensure that the results obtained on the field are fair because there are teams who have exceeded - 10 penalties in one season, and then if they score themselves the goals are rejected"
"And in order for us to have enough VARs in all stadiums, I am bringing a proposal to grant an exemption to the importation of VAR machines and their equipment for the explanation that will be given later. It is possible!" Dr. Mwigulu insisted
The minister also said the government recognizes the importance of sports, arts and entertainment in promoting employment, especially for young people. With that in mind, it has continued to connect Tanzanian artists with the international market through various meetings and concerts and to ensure that their creative works are protected.
He said the government has continued to build the foundations for the identification and development of talents starting from school, which has helped to increase employment and income for players who are registered in various teams inside and outside the country

"Following the deliberate efforts of President Samia Suluhu Hassan in strengthening the sports sector in the country, Tanzania will host the AFCON championship in 2027 in collaboration with the countries of Uganda and Kenya"
"I would like to assure you that the government is well organized on the preparations for the championship, including the construction of the Samia Stadium in Arusha, as presented by the Minister of Culture, Arts and Sports," he said
He gave an opinion to the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) to start preparations for Taifa Stars early so that the trophy will eventually stay at home
"The preparation of the team needs to have good stadiums. The government is prepared to build new stadiums and renovate some of the existing stadiums.
