Despite being hurt by the injustice done to Yanga in South Africa in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Mamelodi Sundowns, Yanga's head coach Miguel Gamondi has congratulated his players for giving themselves up and fighting for all 180 minutes of the game against of Mamelodi Sundowns
Gamondi has said that with the way the players put themselves against the team that is said to be the best in Africa at the moment, they deserved more than what they got
Gamondi praised midfielder Jonas Mkude for showing excellent performance in both matches, entering the team after Khalid Aucho was absent
In those matches, Mkude showed that he can still play any competitive match at a high level
"If there is a first compliment I can give, then it is for all my players, these two matches have played at a very high level, people should not forget that we played against Mamelodi with every record and everything"
"We had the challenges of some of our players being incomplete but it is as if there was no such gap, every player has played at a very high level and defended the club as a family"
"Mkude did a great job in the midfield area, we need to have players who dare to do big things like this if each one is given a chance, I expect Sasa to continue with this kind of progress in the future," said Gamondi
Mkude landed in Yanga as a free agent after finishing his contract with Simba last season
He signed a one-year contract but it is clear that Yanga can extend him another contract especially if he continues the quality he showed in the match against Sundowns
