Yanga head coach Miguel Gamondi has said that it is a good opportunity for his team to play the first match to compete for a ticket to play in the Champions League group stage against El Merrikh in Rwanda
September 16th 2023, Yanga will be at Pele, Kigali Stadium to face their hosts El Merrikh who chose to use the stadium due to ongoing unrest in their country Sudan
Gamondi said they have a good time to prepare here in Tanzania and travel to Rwanda a few days before the game because their journey will be a few hours and will not cause the players fatigue
Also playing the game away but with many fans is another advantage for them
"Playing in Rwanda I think will not be a bad schedule for us, we can train here and then spend a few hours going to Rwanda, that is a big advantage for us because the players will not get tired"
"But more importantly we have another advantage which is big, our fans will be able to travel to support us in the game," said Gamondi
Yanga has already announced the procedure for fans who want to travel with the team from Dar es Salaam to pay Tsh 150,000/-
Procedures have also been prepared for fans from neighboring regions near Rwanda such as Kigoma, Kagera, Mwanza where the cost is between Tsh 55,000/- to Tsh 90,000/- for a round trip to Rwanda
