Yanga central defender Gift Fred and midfielder Khalid Aucho were included in the squad of the Ugandan national team that will play against Niger on September 07 in the game for the ticket to the final of the Afcon 2023
Yanga Information Officer Ali Kamwe said they were informed by the Uganda Football Federation that Fred was injured during the team's training, they have allowed him to return to the club
"Gift Fred is one of our (12) players called up to various national teams. Fred while training with his Ugandan national team suffered a minor injury that would keep him out for 3 to 4 days "
"The doctors of the Ugandan national team have informed us that they have allowed Gift Fred to return to Tanzania and the coach has called his replacement for their AFCON qualifying match against Niger"
"The squad left yesterday, Fred had already been removed from the squad after getting an injury. So Fred is returning to the country. The information that he was not called up is a lie because all the call-ups of players to their national teams go through (TFF)." said Kamwe
