While they are preparing for the first round game of the CAF Champions League against Al Merrikh, the President of Tanzania Champion Yanga, Engineer Hersi Said said they want a record in the CAF Champions League
>On September 16th, this year, Yanga will travel away to face Al Merreikh of Sudan in the first leg game at the Pele Stadium in Kigali, Rwanda, before returning to Dar es Salaam at the Azam Complex Stadium at the end of this month
p>Toward that game, the Yanga team is proud of their speed where they have qualified for the first preliminary stage with a resounding 7-1 victory against ASAS from Djibouti, while also having the best performance in the Premier League where they lead the standings with their six points that they collected in the first two games
Last season the Yanga team in the international competition started in the African Champions League where they were eliminated and fell to the African Confederation Cup where they managed to finish second in the competition
Talking about their participation in the African Champions League this season, Hersi has said that they have planned to make sure they do well
"The team is continuing with the final preparations for these knockout stage games, last season we were eliminated in a similar stage by a team from Sudan so we are familiar with these games"
"But as a leadership, our goals are to ensure that we write a new record in the African Champions League competition as we wrote in the Confederations Cup competition by playing in the final last season"
"We have set goals to enter the group stage, we know we have not played this stage for more than 20 years. If we succeed in this stage, we will have another strategy to ensure we do better in the next stage," said Hersi p>
