History has been written in Tanzanian football as for the first time a female coach has been entrusted with the responsibilities of leading the men's team
It is the former coach of Yanga Princess Edna Lema who was announced yesterday as the assistant coach of Biashara United participating in the Championship. Lema has been given a one-year contract
"It has been my dream for a long time to teach men's soccer and finally today it is going to come true, for me it is going to be a new challenge. Although it will not be easy but I am ready"
"My contract is for one year and our biggest responsibility, along with the desire of the players, is to ensure that Biashara Club returns to the main league in Tanzania," says Edna
Edna coached the Yanga Princess team for three seasons, her last season being 2021/22, helping Yanga Princess to finish second in the Women's league standings, different from Simba Queens who were champions by only one point difference
Lema is completing CAF License A training which will enable him to coach Premier League teams and even abroad
