Through the 44th Ordinary General Meeting, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has launched a new Africa Super League competition that will involve 24 clubs
The clubs will come from three football zones in Africa with each zone providing eight clubs that will make up the league that will involve 16 countries across the continent
CAF has stated that the main reason for starting the tournament is to promote the value of football in Africa through investment, sponsorship and development funds.
Africa Super League will be played for a period of 10 months from August to May every year and will have a total of 197 games.
The finals of the competition, which has been named SuperFinal, will be played at the end of May in a tournament that will be organized to have a model of the SuperBowl (USA) finals.
In that meeting, the President of CAF, Dr. Patrick Motsepe has said that within the next several months, they will announce the entire system of the competition and the date it is expected to start.
