In his first season with Yanga, Mayele has found success where in 19 premier league games, he has scored 11 goals and also scored two goals in the FA Cup
Mayele had his reason for taking the number nine jersey despite hearing the stories of those who used the jersey in the past
"At first I used to wear jersey number 10 due to the number of children born into our family, but after my sister died and remained nine I decided to change the number that I still use now"
"I do not believe in the previous system within Yanga that the number nine is cursed, because I believe in ability as numbers and abilities do not mix. You see, I start the first team and score goals," said Mayele
