Tanzania has made history in African football after all four of its clubs competing in continental competitions qualified for the group stages of the 2026/2027 CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.
This marks the second consecutive year that all four Tanzanian clubs have reached the group stages, strengthening the country’s representation in African club football.
In the CAF Champions League, Simba SC and Young Africans (Yanga SC) will represent Tanzania.
Simba secured qualification after defeating Equatorial Guinea’s 15 de Agosto 9-1 on aggregate over two legs.
Meanwhile, Yanga booked their place in the group stages after overcoming Madagascar’s CFFA 8-1 on aggregate. In the CAF Confederation Cup, Azam FC and Singida Black Stars also secured qualification.
Azam advanced after defeating Egypt’s ZED FC 2-1 on aggregate, while Singida Black Stars qualified after overcoming Kenya’s Tusker FC by the same aggregate score.
The achievement ensures continued Tanzanian representation in CAF’s premier club competitions.
Simba and Yanga will compete against other leading clubs across the continent in the Champions League, while Azam FC and Singida Black Stars prepare to face their opponents in the Confederation Cup group stages.
Having all four clubs qualify for the group stages for a second consecutive year represents a significant milestone for Tanzanian football.
It gives the teams another opportunity to test themselves against different levels of opposition across Africa and pursue further success.
Attention now turns to the group-stage draw and fixtures, as the clubs prepare to represent the country and compete for honours on the continental stage.
