Coach Nasreddine Nabi is reportedly close to returning to Moroccan football, with Wydad Athletic Club linked with a move to appoint him as their head coach. Negotiations are said to have reached their final stages as Wydad look to improve their results following an underwhelming start to the season.
According to reports, Wydad’s management has decided to accelerate plans to bring Nabi to the club, a move that had initially been scheduled for December this year. The Tunisian coach is considered one of the options due to his experience in North African football and the success he achieved during his time at Yanga SC.
Wydad have endured a challenging start to their league campaign, collecting five points from their opening four matches, with one win, two draws and one defeat. Their 1-1 draw against Amal Tiznit on October 18, 2026, has increased pressure on the team to find solutions and improve its performance.
Nabi is familiar with Moroccan football, having previously coached AS FAR Rabat and Raja Casablanca. During the 2023/24 season at AS FAR, he guided the team to a second-place finish in the league and the final of the Throne Cup, recording 28 wins, five draws and five defeats in 38 matches.
Nabi later joined South African side Kaizer Chiefs in 2024, where, according to reports, he oversaw 41 matches, recording 18 wins, nine draws and 14 defeats. He was also associated with the club’s success in the Nedbank Cup in 2025. However, until Wydad makes an official announcement, his reported move to the club should be treated as unconfirmed.
