Barcelona Beat Getafe 3-0 to Match Club Record with Eighth Consecutive La Liga Win

Barcelona continued to demonstrate their strength in the 2026/27 La Liga season after beating Getafe 3-0 at Spotify Camp Nou on Saturday, October 10, 2026.

The victory gave Hansi Flick’s side their eighth consecutive league win, extending their impressive start to the season and equalling the club record for the most consecutive victories at the beginning of a campaign.

Barcelona wasted no time in showing their determination to collect all three points. In the second minute, Anthony Gordon opened the scoring after making a good run into Getafe’s area and firing a shot that took a deflection off Mario Martín before finding the back of the net.

The early goal gave Barcelona momentum and forced Getafe, who had set up with a five-man defensive line, to rethink how to cope with the hosts’ pressure.

Gordon, who was signed to strengthen Barcelona’s attack, scored his first goal in the club’s colours. His performance was one of the highlights of a Barcelona display that remained sharp despite the absence of Raphinha, who was sidelined with a minor thigh problem.

Barcelona continued to push Getafe back, and their efforts paid off again in the 30th minute. Gabriel Jesus pressed aggressively, forced an error in Getafe’s defence, won possession and drove into the danger area before finishing with a shot to make it 2-0.

The goal was significant for another reason: Gabriel Jesus was making his first start for Barcelona, and he showed the coaching staff that he could make a direct contribution to the team’s attack.

Barcelona went into half-time with a 2-0 lead, leaving Getafe with a difficult task if they were to turn the game around.

After the break, Getafe tried to play with greater confidence, but Barcelona continued to control possession and create chances. Goalkeeper David Soria was forced into important saves to prevent Barcelona from extending their lead, while Lamine Yamal continued to trouble the defence with his pace and ability to deliver decisive passes.

However, Getafe were unable to find a goal that could revive their hopes. Barcelona restricted the visitors’ opportunities and continued searching for a third goal to put the result beyond doubt.

In the 73rd minute, Jules Koundé scored Barcelona’s third goal after Lamine Yamal delivered a quality ball into the danger area following a corner. Koundé finished the chance to make it 3-0.

The goal gave Barcelona greater peace of mind in the closing stages and capped an enjoyable evening for the fans at Camp Nou.

The match was also personally significant for Koundé. He made his 194th La Liga appearance for Barcelona, surpassing Eric Abidal’s record for the most league appearances by a French player for the club.

Eight Consecutive Wins: A Message to Their Rivals

The victory took Barcelona to 24 points from eight matches, maintaining their perfect league record this season. The team has matched its historic start to the 2013/14 campaign, when Barcelona were managed by Tata Martino.

One notable aspect of the win was that Barcelona achieved it without Raphinha, one of their key attacking players. Gordon and Gabriel Jesus demonstrated that the club has other players capable of taking responsibility for creating and scoring goals.

What’s Next for Barcelona?

Following their victory over Getafe, Barcelona will turn their attention to the UEFA Champions League, where they are expected to travel to face Galatasaray. They will then return to La Liga action before preparing for the major clash against Real Madrid on October 25.
