The Tanzania national team, Taifa Stars, have dropped three places in the latest FIFA rankings released on October 7, 2026, falling from 112th to 115th in the world. Tanzania now have 1,166.82 points in the rankings.
The drop follows disappointing results in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers, with Taifa Stars losing 2-0 to Guinea-Bissau before drawing 1-1 with Madagascar. Meanwhile, Rwanda have climbed nine places to 119th, while Kenya have dropped five places to 114th.
In East Africa, Uganda have moved up to 87th, while Burundi have also continued to rise in the rankings. Tanzania are now one place below Kenya and 28 places behind Uganda in the latest standings.
At the top of the global rankings, Spain remain in first place, followed by Argentina, France and England. The biggest change among the top 10 comes in fifth place, where Portugal have climbed two places to fifth, pushing Brazil down to sixth, while Morocco have dropped to seventh.
The rankings are expected to be updated again on November 18, 2026, following the next international window.
