As the Kariakoo Derby on October 10 approaches, we look back at one of the biggest matches in Tanzanian football and a unique record set by Simba SC.
Abdallah Athumani Seif, popularly known as King Abdallah Kibadeni Mputa, remains the only player in history to score a hat-trick in the Kariakoo Derby.
Kibadeni made history on July 19, 1977, when Simba defeated Yanga 6-0 in the 11th league meeting between the two sides since they began facing each other in the league established in 1965.
To this day, Kibadeni’s record remains one of the most memorable moments in the history of the Kariakoo Derby.
