Former Simba and Yanga midfielder Amri Kiemba has returned to Kagera Sugar, this time joining the Bukoba-based club’s technical bench after being appointed as one of head coach Cedric Kaze’s assistants.
Kiemba, who previously played for Kagera Sugar, now returns to the club in a new role, helping the technical bench in its efforts to improve the team and move them up the Mainland Premier League standings.
Kagera Sugar have reached an agreement to bring in Kiemba and Frank Domayo, both former midfielders who played for some of Tanzania’s biggest clubs and the national team, to join Kaze’s technical staff.
Kiemba and Domayo have recently been involved in football analysis while pursuing coaching studies, and they will now have the opportunity to put their experience to use on Kagera Sugar’s technical bench.
Kiemba’s arrival comes just days after Kagera Sugar appointed Cedric Kaze as head coach, replacing Juma Kaseja.
Kaze took charge after Kagera Sugar made a poor start to the 2026/27 season. In their opening six Mainland Premier League matches, the team failed to record a win, collecting just two points from two draws and suffering four defeats. Kagera Sugar currently sit 15th in the standings.
Kagera have also faced injury problems, while some new signings have been waiting for their playing permits. Among the reported challenges are injuries to six players, as well as pending playing permits for Boniface Onyango, Emmanuel Mvuyekule and Collins Maina.
In those six matches, Kagera lost 2-0 to Simba, drew 1-1 with Singida Black Stars, suffered a 6-2 defeat against Geita Gold, lost 2-1 to Mashujaa, fell 2-0 to Azam and later drew 1-1 with Fountain Gate.
