Tanzania U23 made a difficult start to their AFCON U23 qualifying campaign after suffering a 4-1 defeat to Kenya U23 in the first leg of the qualifying round.
Kenya scored through Paul Osama, Lawrence Okoth, Kelvin Wangaya and Kelly Madada, while Tanzania’s only goal came from Sheikhan Ibrahim, who converted from the penalty spot.
The result leaves Tanzania facing a difficult task heading into the second leg, as they will need a big-margin victory to overturn the aggregate score and keep their hopes of qualifying for AFCON U23 alive.
The second leg between Tanzania U23 and Kenya U23 is scheduled for October 6, 2026, with Tanzania needing to win while attempting to overturn the three-goal deficit created by Kenya.
