Kagera Sugar have officially appointed Burundian coach Cedrick Kaze as their new head coach, replacing Juma Kaseja, who was dismissed following a run of poor results.
Kaze, known for his tactical approach and extensive experience in the Mainland Premier League after previously coaching Young Africans (Yanga), returns to Tanzania to help revive the fortunes of the ‘Wana-Nkurukumbi’, who are currently struggling.
Kagera Sugar’s decision to terminate Juma Kaseja’s contract, along with that of his entire technical bench, comes after the team failed to record a single victory in their opening six matches of the 2026/27 season.
So far, Kagera Sugar have collected just two points from a possible 18, drawing two matches and losing four, a situation that has placed them in danger of being drawn into the relegation zone.
The club’s spokesperson has confirmed that an agreement with Kaze has been completed and that he is expected to begin work immediately as he looks to rebuild the squad during the current league break for the FIFA calendar.
The new coach’s biggest task will be to restore the players’ morale and secure the first victory that could revive the hopes of fans in the Kagera region.
Kaze has returned to Tanzania from South Africa, just weeks after terminating his contract with South African Premier League side Sekhukhune United.
