Lionel Messi has added another trophy to his illustrious career after leading Inter Miami to the 2026 Campeones Cup with a 2-0 victory over Cruz Azul in Wednesday’s match at Nu Stadium in Miami. The triumph also brought another milestone for Messi, who scored his 100th goal for Inter Miami.
Messi opened the scoring in the 24th minute with a header after connecting with a pass from Luis Suárez. In the 81st minute, he was involved again in the second goal after delivering a corner that was headed home by Brazilian midfielder Casemiro to give Inter Miami a 2-0 victory.
According to some sources that count his trophies based on official team titles, the triumph takes Messi’s career tally to 49 trophies, while MLS counts him as having won 48. The difference comes from the way different sources classify and count some of Messi’s earlier achievements.
For Inter Miami, the Campeones Cup becomes the club’s fourth trophy since Messi joined in 2023, following the 2023 Leagues Cup, 2024 Supporters’ Shield and 2025 MLS Cup. The victory also means Inter Miami have won a trophy in every calendar year since Messi arrived at the club.
