Azam FC have received with great sadness the news of the death of their U-20 goalkeeper, Iddy Salim, who passed away after being involved in a motorcycle accident.
According to a statement issued by Azam FC today, Friday, September 11, 2026, Iddy Salim died yesterday, Thursday, September 10, 2026, following the motorcycle accident.
“We are saddened to announce the death of our U-20 youth team goalkeeper, Iddy Salim, who died in a motorcycle accident yesterday, Thursday,” part of the club’s statement read.
Azam FC said Iddy’s death is a major loss to his family, the youth team and the entire club family, while extending its condolences to his relatives, friends and everyone affected by the tragedy.
The body of the late Iddy Salim is currently being kept at Mwananyamala Regional Referral Hospital (MRRH) in Dar es Salaam, where final procedures are being carried out.
Once those procedures are completed, the goalkeeper’s body is expected to be transported to Tanga, where he will be laid to rest.
Iddy Salim was part of Azam FC’s youth squad and was regarded as one of the players building his football career through the club’s youth development system.
His death has left players, coaches and officials at Azam FC, as well as his family and friends, mourning his loss.
